Christ commends a church with little strength yet great faithfulness. To Philadelphia he sets an open door no enemy can shut, promises vindication, protection, and a permanent place in God’s temple. Weakness, when joined to obedience, becomes the sphere of Christ’s conquering power for the persevering saints who hold fast.
